American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical unit position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 1-2 years of acute care experience and an active MO or Compact RN license.
Requirements- Active MO or Compact RN license (Compact license must match permanent residence; MO license not required at time of consideration)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1-2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required;
Level I Trauma or teaching facility experience preferred - Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam — interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is required
- Required skills include: peripheral line care/management, blood product administration, IV therapy, heparin and insulin administration, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Preferred skills include:
BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, PICC line management, PCA management, wound care/wound vac, telemetry monitoring, and central line blood draw - MS/Tele experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Acute care Med/Surg unit in a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient population includes those with diabetes, renal disease, COPD, abdominal rule-outs, and cancer patients not actively receiving chemotherapy — this unit does not care for surgical patients
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within service line is required
No on-call required - Block scheduling is not available
- Epic EMR — experience required
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
- All RTO must be finalized prior to submission — no additional RTO requests will be accepted after submission
- Candidates who have been permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Pre-start modules are required and must be completed through Work Ramp prior to the start date
- Fit testing is required — facial hair must allow for proper N95 fit testing; no exceptions
- Parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
