Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at an acute care hospital, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and prior travel experience, with night shift availability and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Work setting is a 233-bed acute care hospital in a combined adult/pediatric general emergency department
  • STEMI-certified and stroke-certified facility with shock/trauma capabilities
  • Patient ratio is 1:4
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (17:45–06:15), rotating on a M/T/W and S/M/T pattern
  • First week of orientation is Monday–Friday on day shift
  • Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend; night shift weekends may fall on Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on the existing rotation
  • Charting is done in Epic; experience is required
  • No on-call requirements
  • No floating outside of service line
Requirements
  • Active MO RN license or compact RN license required; compact license must match permanent residence
  • Minimum 2 years of emergency department RN experience
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • Preferred certifications: CPI and TNCC
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required clinical skills include: pediatric emergency care, psychiatric emergencies (acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, managing violent behavior), respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, intubation), IV therapy and phlebotomy (central line care, blood product administration), emergency and continuous IV medications including vasopressors and procedural sedation, cardiac monitoring (12-lead EKG, dysrhythmia interpretation and management), neurological emergencies (CVA, traumatic brain injury), multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, triage, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Preferred skills include: management of abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, infection, mental/behavioral health conditions, near drowning, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, spinal cord injury, UTIs, and splint application
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Free parking is available on site
  • Candidates who have been permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before being considered as a traveler at any BJC facility
  • Travelers may work at this facility for a maximum of 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
  • RTO is limited to 7 days for a 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation; any RTO exceeding 7 days or falling on a holiday requires manager approval and must be finalized prior to consideration
  • Pre-start online modules are required and must be completed prior to the start date
  • Facial hair must allow for proper N95 fit testing; no exceptions
