American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Step-Down position requiring MO or compact licensure and prior telemetry nursing experience.
Details- Work in the Telemetry unit of a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
- Cardiac telemetry and step-down patient population
- Patient ratios of 1:4-5
- Performs EKG monitoring and manages cardiac drips
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active MO or compact RN license required (compact license must match permanent residence)
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required (dedicated PCU experience not required if other qualifications are met)
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience with blood product administration and PICC line management
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and oxygen administration
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with pacemakers and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
- Epic EMR charting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Provide telemetry-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and cardiac drip administration
- Perform wound care, IV insulin protocols, and manage patients with substance withdrawal
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius as no local candidates are accepted
- Standard travelers may stay for up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
- Contract length is firm at 13 weeks
