• Day Shift: 7am - 7pm
• Night Shift: 7pm - 7am
• Rotating Holidays & Weekends

Under the direction of an RN or LPN, the PCA assists with individualized patient care to help patients achieve their highest level of wellness. This role is an essential member of the care team, performing both clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• No experience? No problem! Mercy provides a 175-hour, Department of Health and Senior Services–approved training program, completed during new hire orientation (must be finished within 90 days).
• Our PCA training is also an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program, offering valuable hands-on experience and credentials.

• BLS certification within 1 month of hire
• PCA competencies completed within 3 months

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Enrolled in a healthcare career program (including high school programs)
• Mercy co-workers encouraged to apply

Experience:

None required

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, grip, and squat

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream.

In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States.

In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.  to Learn More about Mercy
