Who This Role Is ForThis position is designed for nursing students who have completed or are about to complete the Fundamentals of Nursing course

The Nurse Technician role requires completion of the first semester of nursing school (after pre-requisites).

Under the direction of an RN or LPN, the Nurse Technician:
- Assists with individualized patient care
- Performs designated clinical and non‑clinical support tasks
- Works collaboratively as part of a care team
- Supports patients in achieving their highest level of wellness
Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program
, offering hands‑on experience in a supportive healthcare environment.
- 175‑hour training program provided if no prior experience
- Training completed during new hire orientation
- Must be completed within 90 days of hire (per state guidelines)
- BLS required within one month of hire
- PCA competencies completed within 3 months
- Education: High school diploma or GED, CNA/CPTC, enrollment in a healthcare high school program, or a current Mercy co‑worker
- Experience: None required
- If enrolled in nursing school, please list this on your resume or application
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat
