Position Overview

Under the direction of an RN or LPN, the Nurse Technician:

  • Assists with individualized patient care
  • Performs designated clinical and non‑clinical support tasks
  • Works collaboratively as part of a care team
  • Supports patients in achieving their highest level of wellness
Training & Development

Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program
, offering hands‑on experience in a supportive healthcare environment.

  • 175‑hour training program provided if no prior experience
  • Training completed during new hire orientation
  • Must be completed within 90 days of hire (per state guidelines)
  • BLS required within one month of hire
  • PCA competencies completed within 3 months
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED, CNA/CPTC, enrollment in a healthcare high school program, or a current Mercy co‑worker
  • Experience: None required
  • If enrolled in nursing school, please list this on your resume or application
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat
Preferred Certification

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
