American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Neuroscience unit on night shift, requiring an active MO or compact RN license and prior neuro/med-surg experience.

• Neuro-surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift, 4x12, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Weekend shifts as needed, with an every-other-weekend expectation
• Floating required as needed within scope of practice
• No on-call requirements
• Willingness to take occasional charge nurse role required
• FIT test required on-site

• Active RN license (MO or Compact) required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year recent inpatient acute care experience in Med/Surg and Neuro required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide care for patients with stroke, seizures, MS, back/head/spinal conditions, and other neurological or neurosurgical diagnoses
• Coordinates patient care with other departments and evaluates care provided by other direct caregivers
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information
• Black scrub color required
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1
• Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire week for orientation
• Up to 5 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week period, with additional days made up at the end of the assignment
• Standard expectation of working every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Must be available to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day)
• Local candidates accepted; those living within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a reduced bill rate
• Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius
