Clinical Nurse PACU Phase

BJC Health Care seeks a Clinical Nurse PACU Phase I to provide expert post-anesthesia care in our St. Louis hospital network. In this Phase I PACU role, you will closely monitor patients emerging from anesthesia, manage airways, pain, hemodynamics, and potential complications, and coordinate safe transitions to the next level of care. You will document in the EHR, collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons, and educate patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I post-anesthesia care to surgical patients in the PACUContinuously assess and monitor airway, hemodynamics, pain, and neurologic status
• Administer IV fluids, medications, and pain control per provider orders and protocols
• Respond to and stabilize post-operative complications or emergencies
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EHR accurately and timely
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team for coordinated care
• Educate patients and families on post-operative expectations and discharge instructions
• Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards
• Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and unit-based initiatives
