BJC Health Care is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Transitional Care Unit for a nursing job in Saint Louis, Missouri.

This role focuses on supporting boarding patients in the ED while they await inpatient beds. The shift pattern is 3x12’s with coverage every 3rd weekend. Eligible for up to $15,000 sign‑on bonus (external applicants).

Additional Preferred Requirements: ED and/or inpatient experience helpful.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing care standards.

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and families on illness management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, families, or caregivers.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of care plans across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.

• Education:
  
  Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
• License:
  Registered Nurse (RN).
• Experience:
  
  None required.

  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience:
  
  Less than 2 years in nursing.
• Experience:
  
  ED and/or inpatient nursing experience helpful.
