American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for an Inpatient Med/Surg night shift position requiring a Missouri or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience.

• Work in the Inpatient Medical/Surgical unit of a Level 2 Trauma Center hospital
• 20-bed unit caring for a diverse Med/Surg patient population
• Patient ratios typically 1:5-6 on days and 1:6-7 on nights, though ratios are not guaranteed
• Uses Nova Meters for blood glucose testing, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and SCD machines
• Documents in EPIC EMR
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation required as needed by the facility, typically every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• May be floated to other units depending on staffing needs

• Active RN license eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri
• BLS certification from AHA required
• ACLS certification from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
• Must be a team player willing to provide care to a diverse patient population

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adult patients across all age groups
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
• Maintain professional accountability and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
• Care for patients recovering from trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, frequent bending, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids is expected
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• Black scrubs required; open-toed shoes are not permitted
• Requested time off (RTO) of 5 days or less is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
• Only one holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
