Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Specialty Nurse in an acute care facility. This position involves providing high-acuity postoperative recovery care for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients within a Level I trauma center. The role requires critical care experience to manage complex patient needs including artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs.
Job Details- Schedule:
10-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 10/12/2026 and ending on 02/01/2027. - Required Qualifications:
Valid license in the applicable state, 2 years of critical care or PACU experience, certifications in BLS and ACLS, experience with Epic electronic health record system, and trauma level I experience. - Preferred Qualifications:
CCRN and TNCC certifications are preferred. - Float:
Float rotation may be required between PACU and Pre-Op units within scope. - Additional Information:
- Must have experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia.
- The unit is open 24/7 with 38 patient bays, caring for diverse surgical specialties including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, trauma, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant.
- Night shift staff will need to learn preoperative patient work-up for first cases.
- Critical care experience is essential, especially for patients requiring invasive monitoring, artificial airways, and transfusions.
- Night shift nurses may need to work up pre‑op patients from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM when needed.
- The role involves caring for high acuity postoperative patients and potential intraoperative recovery procedures.
- Location requires the candidate to reside at least 75 miles from the facility.
- License in hand at time of submittal is required.
