Additional information about the roleours for this position are 1900–0730. The Vascular Access Service provides care to both inpatient and outpatient populations at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

The team utilizes both traditional IV insertion techniques and advanced ultrasound-guided technology to place peripheral IVs (PIVs), midlines, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines). Training is provided during orientation to develop competency in the use of ultrasound for vascular access device placement.

In addition to device insertion, nurses assess, maintain, and troubleshoot vascular access devices, including restoring catheter patency through evidence-based interventions such as declotting occluded lines and addressing mechanical or positional issues.

No call requirements 12 hour shifts
- Mids/Night Shift Rotate with every 3 weekend being mid shift 11-2330 PM

• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
