ASSIGNMENT

DESCRIPTION:

Nurse Practitioners provide professional nursing and health care services in support of occupational health and workplace wellness programs. They perform medical examinations, provide diagnosis and treatment, engage in medical consultation, and perform clinical case management. They use clinical skills and knowledge to complete comprehensive medical and physical assessments and preventative medical services for Agency personnel including, but not limited to, annual preventive health;

pre- and post-deployment interviews and deployment health assessments; pre-placement, occupational health, and separation health physical exams; fitness for duty evaluations; line of duty and medical continuation determinations. They provide advice and consultation on Agency medical services and counsel and educate employees on disease prevention and positive health and lifestyle choices. They support the planning, scheduling, execution, management, and administration of Agency wide medical services and occupational health and wellness programs.

In addition, Nurse Practitioners may supervise or manage medical staff and serve on committees that determine medical policy and decision making.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Nurse Practitioner oversees a team providing medical services at NGA St. Louis site. As the Service-wide professional nursing expert in the field of medical and health programs, the incumbent plans, develops, implements, administers, and maintains these programs, which include wellness, medical examinations and reviews, immunizations, health fairs, and other preventative occupational health programs such as Bloodborne Pathogens (hepatitis), etc.

Ensures that employees are not assigned to critical or law enforcement functions where the safety of the Officer, coworkers and NGA workforce could be compromised.

They lead, advise and guide others to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and federal and DoD policies regarding occupational health and medical services, the management of medical records and private health information, and the use of automated medical record systems.
