Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Trauma unit requiring 5+ years of experience, Level I Trauma background, and MO or compact RN license.

Details
  • Medical Surgical Trauma unit within a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-6
  • Day shift, 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30), with option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
  • Patients are admitted from ED, OR, or ICU
  • Care for geriatric trauma, trauma (abuse/violence, MVA/MVC, falls), and acute care surgery patients (appendicitis, gallbladders, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, TBI)
  • Uses specialized equipment including lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators
  • EPIC charting system used
Requirements
  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
  • Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; BSN, CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC preferred
  • Level I and Level II Trauma experience required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Required skills include blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, insulin administration, PCA management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
  • Experience with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements required
  • Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen delivery devices required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide direct nursing care to trauma and acute care surgery patients transferring from ED, OR, or ICU
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must maintain facial hair compliant with respirator fit testing standards or be willing to shave
  • Labs must be completed within 48-72 hours of signing
  • No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
  • Returning travelers may remain for an 18-month period followed by a required 3-month break in service
  • Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travel experience required; first-time travelers are not being considered for this role
