American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN with PCU experience and vent/trach skills for a night shift assignment at a short-term acute care teaching hospital.
Requirements- Active MO or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
- Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with ventilator management, long-term vent weaning, pulmonary rehab, and trach care required
- Experience with IV starts and telemetry required
- Skills in phlebotomy, central line care, and port access required
- ABG draw experience preferred
- Step Down/PCU unit in a short-term acute care, teaching hospital setting
- Patient ratios of 1:2-3 for all shifts
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within service line, including to Medical-Surgical units
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR used, experience required
- Responsibilities include vent management alongside respiratory therapy, trach management, and cardiac monitoring with emergency response
- Manage cardiac drips (no titration) and heparin protocols
- Navy scrubs required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- No local candidates accepted
- RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Travelers may stay for an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing
