American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN with 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and ACLS/BLS certification for a short-term acute care hospital setting.
Requirements- Active MO or compact RN license required (must match permanent residence for compact)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
- IV start and telemetry experience required
- Skilled in central and peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry remote monitoring
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Experience with feeding tube care, HFNC, and PCA preferred
- Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair allowing for proper respirator fit testing
- Floats within the Med/Surg service line, including medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, cardiology, and renal units
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on days and weekends and 1:6 on nights
- Day shift schedule of 3x12 hour shifts (6:45 AM-7:15 PM)
- Required to work every other weekend or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
- No on-call requirements
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Utilizes lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanners (training provided)
- First-time travelers are accepted for this role
- Provides direct patient care across multiple medical specialty units based on daily staffing needs
- Receives unit assignment via call-in up to 1 hour before scheduled shift start when in float pool
- Navy blue scrubs required
- No block scheduling accommodations available
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
- Does not accept local candidates within a 75-mile radius
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
- Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within the health system as a traveler
