Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma Center experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details
  • Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital setting with 1,273 staffed beds
  • Emergency Department unit with patient ratio of 4:1, occasionally flexing to 5:1
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:00 PM-6:30 AM)
  • Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required, with only Friday-Sunday weekend block scheduling available
  • No floating outside of scope required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Frequently required to staff the behavioral health ED POD
  • EPIC charting system used
Requirements
  • Active MO or compact RN license required (must be in hand, no issuance tied to another compact state)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • TNCC certification required
  • CPI, NIHSS certifications preferred
  • 3 years of ER experience typically required; candidates with 2-3 years and Level I Trauma Center experience plus prior travel assignment will be considered
  • Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, starting and maintaining IVs, interpretation of ABGs, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, CVA care, gunshot wound and traumatic amputation care, cardiac monitoring, isolation precautions/PPE, and triage
  • Preferred skills include acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, suicidal patient care, arterial line management, ventilated patient care, chest tube insertion/management, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and ortho trauma care
  • Must have facial hair that allows for proper respirator fit testing or be willing to shave
  • Charge RN experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency department nursing care across a wide range of acute, trauma, and behavioral health presentations
  • Work within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital environment
  • Scrub color required:
    Navy Blue
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not accepted
  • Standard travelers must reside outside a 75-mile radius and may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
  • Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Travelers with less than 18 months tenure must complete an 18-month assignment period with a 3-month break before returning
  • No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Pending license candidates may be accepted depending on state requirements
