Job Description – Clark Animal Hospital
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some common points: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and exceptional service to animals and the people who love them. Our hospital has been an established part of the community since 1960.
Many of our devoted clients have been with us since our beginning! We are currently in the early stages of designing a new building, only three blocks from our current hospital. The new facility will provide us with an updated space and new opportunities for growth.
- Work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, create treatment plans, diagnostic work, and dentistry services.
- Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures and medical management of patients.
- Practice clinical skills while developing communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
- Participate in externship programs ranging from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
- Clinical‑year veterinary students only.
- Eligible for a travel/living expense stipend when in the clinical portion of education.
