Metrology and CMM Inspection Specialist Imagine this: A production run completes, and a critical customer deadline is on the horizon. You step in, translate complex drawings and GD&T into a metrology plan, confirm key features on the bench with calipers, micrometers, height gages, and dial indicators, then validate form and location on the CMM. You capture results, isolate a nonconformance, and work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with engineering and production to drive a corrective action—keeping quality, schedule, and customer trust intact.
Role Purpose Guard the dimensional integrity of precision‑machined components from first article through shipment while upholding ISO 9001 standards.
Core Responsibilities Execute first article, in‑process, and final inspections
Operate a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to verify critical dimensions and specifications (experience with Mitutoyo or CMM‑Manager is advantageous)
Apply blueprint reading skills, GD&T, and welding symbol knowledge to inspection activities
Perform gauge calibration and maintain inspection assets
Conduct ISO quality audits; support the quality management system
Document results, manage nonconforming material, and prepare quality reports
Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions
Collaborate closely with production and engineering on quality resolutions
What You’ll Need Minimum 1 year of quality inspection experience in manufacturing
Hands‑on proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, and similar)
Fluency in reading blueprints and applying GD&TWorking knowledge of ISO 9001
CMM operation experience; familiarity with Mitutoyo or CMM‑Manager preferred
Basic weld inspection and understanding of welding symbols
Exceptional attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
High school diploma or equivalent
