MINIMUM bio Pty Ltd is seeking a Research Assistant to support laboratory research activities that contribute to its AI-enabled drug discovery platform. The successful candidate will play an important role in advancing experimental workflows that support target discovery and biotechnology innovation.
The position focuses on conducting molecular biology experiments, supporting phage display workflows, and ensuring efficient day-to-day laboratory operations within a PC2 facility. The role also emphasizes maintaining organized laboratory processes to support ongoing research activities.
MINIMUM bio is a biotechnology company focused on innovative drug target discovery using its proprietary phage display–based platform, Mercurious. Originally derived from antibody discovery technology, the platform has been repurposed to rapidly identify protein targets that bind small molecules, biologics, natural products, and molecular glues.
About the Role- Support construction and quality assessment of phage display and protein libraries.
- Assist with cloning, protein expression, and downstream experimental assays.
- Prepare laboratory media, buffers, and reagents while managing stock inventories.
- Maintain microbial and cell cultures using aseptic techniques.
- Perform routine molecular biology assays such as PCR, nucleic acid extraction, and gel analysis.
- Maintain accurate experimental records using electronic lab notebooks.
- Work closely with scientists and contribute to troubleshooting experimental procedures.
- Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with practical laboratory experience.
- Hands‑on experience in cloning, PCR, electrophoresis, aseptic handling, and protein workflows.
- Valid Australian or New Zealand work rights or an appropriate visa.
- Experience with phage display or library construction techniques.
- Exposure to next‑generation sequencing workflows.
- Familiarity with digital lab notebooks, data analysis tools, or basic coding (Python or R).
- Experience working in PC2 laboratories or biotechnology start‑ups.
- Interest in AI or machine learning applications in biotechnology.
