The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in MCAO surgeries, biochemical analysis, and behavioral testing in a cutting-edge research environment.

This position offers an opportunity to conduct innovative research on the effects of alcohol exposure on cerebrovascular health and neuroinflammation.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct biochemical assays to analyze lipid signaling, enzyme expression, and oxidative stress markers in brain tissue.
  • Perform Western blotting, PCR, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence imaging.
  • Coordinate and execute behavioral studies to assess cognitive and motor deficits, including Morris Water Maze (MWM), Novel Object Recognition (NOR), and Fear Conditioning Tests (FCT).
  • Collaborate with laboratory team members on experimental design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
  • Contribute to grant writing and publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, or a related field.
  • Experience in surgical techniques, specifically MCAO, for stroke models in mice.
  • Strong background in biochemical assays, including Western blotting, PCR, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Experience with behavioral analysis in mice.
  • First-author publication history in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse team of researchers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with lipid signaling, autotaxin, and LPP3 pathways in cerebrovascular research.
  • Knowledge of animal models of neuroinflammation and ischemic stroke.
  • Familiarity with neuroimaging techniques and data analysis tools (e.g., ImageJ, Graph Pad Prism).

Position Details:

  • Location:

Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Department of Neurology, St. Louis, MO.
  • Full-time, 40 hours/week.
  • Compensation:
