Work

Environment, Missions, and Activities

You will be working within the Mixed Research Unit on Herbivores. This Unit aims to produce, integrate, and disseminate knowledge, and share expertise to design multi-performance herbivores farming systems that respond to global challenges (environmental, socio-economic, and digital transition). The Unit has 118 permanent staff and hosts 70 non-permanent staff each year. It is organized into 4 research teams, a management team, and a support team.

You will work within the STARQ (Farming Systems, Agroecological Transition, Resilience, and Quality) team of the Unit. This scientific team consists of 27 permanent staff members who work under the responsibility of a Research Manager. The recruited person will work in direct collaboration with a Research Engineer. The proposed work is part of a European project (INTAQT) coordinated by the team and one of the research objectives of the STARQ team, which is to study the relationships between farmers' practices and the quality of their products (milk and meat).

Your mission will be to validate a database from the different partners of the INTAQT project, make it available to the project partners, perform part of the statistical treatments, and valorize the data in the form of technical reports and, if possible, scientific articles. The recruitment follows the implementation of a large experimental setup within the INTAQT project where data related to the functioning of farms, the sustainability of their production mode, and the quality of their products have been collected in 213 farms distributed in nine European countries: 82 broiler farms, 79 dairy farms, and 53 beef farms.

Farms have first been classified according to their level of intensification that we have defined based on the means mobilized to increase their productivity. The mission entrusted to you will be to relate the level of intensification of farms with data related to the sustainability of their production system and the quality of their products.

Your Specific Responsibilities
  • Communicate with project partners to complete and validate the project database;
  • Make this database available to all project partners;
  • Perform part of the statistical treatments to relate farmers' practices with the sustainability of their production mode and the quality of their products;
  • Valorize the results in the form of a scientific publication and a technical publication.
