Position Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Kian Lim at WashU Medicine in St. Louis, MO, is currently seeking a driven laboratory technician to assist senior lab members in conducting laboratory-based translational research.
Focus: investigating mechanisms of treatment response and resistance in biliary tract cancers, identifying novel therapeutic strategies and biologic pathways using in‑vitro experimental platforms.
Responsibilities include performing molecular and cellular experiments, tissue culture, genetic and biochemical assays, maintaining laboratory records, and assisting with data generation and analysis.

PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Assist with research studies, experiments, and assays, including data collection, preparation of solutions, and set up and maintenance of equipment.
- Perform data entry and maintain data files on research.
- Prepare tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
- Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Ensure lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.
- Assist with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
- Physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.
Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
Certifications/Professional LicensesNo specific certification or professional license is required.
Work ExperienceNo specific work experience is required.
Skills- Communication, detailed reports, laboratory instrumentation, laboratory research, software program use, working independently.
- Strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and mammalian cell culture.
- Up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Experience with PCR, gene cloning, DNA/RNA purification, western blotting, transfection, protein expression/analysis, microscopy, and cell-based functional assays.
- Ability to adopt new laboratory techniques and maintain rigorous experimental records.
$16.92 - $26.44 per hour
