Location: St. Louis
Position Summary
Research Assistant will train machine learning models to recognize devices visible during images from fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., PTA balloons, stents, filters, embolization coils). This is part of ongoing work in Interventional Radiology to analyze performance during fluoroscopic procedures. Assists with research study, experiments, preparation of material, and documentation.

Job Description PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Conduct research experiments and assays.
- Review and label deidentified images from fluoroscopic procedures.
- Train and test machine learning models that analyze images and procedural metadata (e.g., supplies used during procedures).
- Evaluate research results, report findings and discuss project outcomes with staff involved.
- Perform data entry and maintain data files on research.
- Analyze data and prepare presentations/publications.
- Coordinate tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
- Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Coordinate research projects with other institutions and investigators.
- Participate in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing them.
- Assist with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Perform literature research on specified topics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
- Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range$17.10 – $29.09 per hour
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including qualifications, performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade, and department budget.
