Job Opportunity

WSP's Cultural Resources Management Team are located across the United States, with over 30 cultural resources professionals housed in our offices in Louisville, Kentucky;
Lexington, Kentucky;
Kansas City, Missouri;
Ballwin, Missouri; and Jefferson City, Missouri.

WSP has immediate openings for On-Call Field Archaeologists with a long-term Phase III archaeological data recovery project at five multi-component Pre-Contact archaeological sites. The sites are located in close proximity to each other and contain components dating from the Late Archaic through the Late Pre-Contact periods. It is probable that the sites contain the remains of the early use of plants of the Eastern Agricultural Complex, and experience on Pre-Contact sites, and with the identification and excavation of Pre-Contact features, is particularly desirable.

This is an on-call, hourly position. Hourly rates are industry competitive, depending on North American CRM experience and regional archaeological experience.

Your Impact

  • Assist with multiple Phase III data recovery projects (with additional work at Phase I and II levels), with specific tasks including:
    • archaeological test unit and shovel test excavation;
    • excavation of cultural features;
    • recovery and identification of archaeological artifacts and other materials;
    • use archaeological field forms to record archaeological data, including type and number of artifacts, soil color (Munsell) and soil textures, and other relevant information;
  • Work effectively as part of a team;
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures;
  • Strictly abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or a closely related field;
  • Archaeological field school or similar archaeological field experience;
  • Self-motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions and be able to follow instructions.
