Postdoctoral Position in Mahajan Lab

There is an opening for a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Kiran Mahajan. The Mahajan lab studies various signaling mechanisms in immune regulation and its role in the tumor microenvironment of prostate cancer. The group also investigates epigenetic processes that drive these diseases and their role in immune modulation. In addition, the lab has a robust program in the development of small molecule inhibitors as therapeutic options for these cancers.

Projects include drug development, the study of cancer immunology using genetically engineered mouse models, molecular analysis of epigenetic crosstalk, and the effects of these epigenetic events on the tumor immune response. Investigation of these studies involves the use of state-of-the-art mouse genetics, functional genomics, next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, molecular biology, tumor biology, and hematopoiesis. Candidates are expected to write and submit manuscripts and help the PI in grant submissions, if the need arises.

Responsible for generating the highest quality data and maintaining data in an appropriate manner. Expected to follow lab timings, help other lab members, and maintain cordial relations.

Primary duties and responsibilities include assisting with grant preparation and reporting, preparing and submitting papers on research, assisting in the design of research experiments, evaluating research findings and assisting in the reporting of the results, conscientious discharge of research responsibilities, maintaining conformity with ethical standards in research, maintaining compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records, engaging in open and timely discussion with the mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to the laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications, collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members, and members of the research group, and adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures, and regulations.

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
