Postdoctoral Research Associate in Biochemistry

Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis (WashU Medicine) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Ghanbarpour Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics.

The interdisciplinary research program investigates how bacteria and human mitochondria maintain homeostasis and respond to stress and environmental challenges, with a particular focus on ATP-dependent AAA proteolytic machines and their accessory factors.

The Ghanbarpour Laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms that enable bacteria and human mitochondria to maintain cellular homeostasis and respond to stress.

A central research focus is ATP-dependent AAA proteolytic machines, including soluble and membrane-spanning complexes and their accessory factors in bacterial and mitochondrial systems.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the supervision of a faculty mentor and will be expected to:

• Assist with the preparation and reporting of research grants.
• Design and conduct research experiments.
• Assist with reporting and communicating research results.
• Prepare and submit scientific manuscripts.
• Maintain accurate and appropriate research records.
• Follow ethical standards in research.
• Maintain compliance with good laboratory practices.
• Communicate openly with the research mentor regarding research materials, records, findings and potential dissemination of results.
• A Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.
• The ability to conduct research in an interdisciplinary laboratory environment.
