Position Summary

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with Cotton’s Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. The Floor Supervisor is responsible for the overall direction of store associates and coordination of store operations in the absence of key store management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for opening and/or closing the store as dictated by schedule.
  • In the absence of management staff, serves as the Manager on Duty by directing the store team and adhering to company-directed policies and procedures as they relate to store operations; receiving merchandise, store opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, daily cash reconciliation, and inventory control.
  • Resolve and/or report any issues pertaining to the shift including employee, customer, product issues.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures and serve as a role model for safety.
  • Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise; maintain department organization and restock as necessary.
  • Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management displaying a Speed is Life attitude.
  • Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team; participate in daily huddle meetings and share ideas for improvement.
  • Remove promotional bin tags and price tags from displays following sales events, flyers, etc.
  • Restock merchandise displays; watch end caps and side wings.
  • Handle special orders for non-stock items, ensuring proper approvals; never refuse a customer without checking with a floor manager.
  • Watch for shoplifters and take action in line with company policy to discourage shoplifting.
  • Provide excellent customer service, be helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
  • Manage visibility of customer interactions from main aisles; greet and assist customers promptly.
  • Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Participate in store communication and initiatives.
  • Assist customers with simple complaints or concerns; involve a manager when needed.
  • Greet all customers within five feet; maintain politeness and attentiveness.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s) and use the Magic Question.
  • Stay aware of promotions and advertisements to inform customers about special sales.
  • Wear radio and headset to communicate effectively with associates and management.
  • Respond to Customer Coordinator questions as needed.
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items as required.
  • Offer customers a red basket for their shopping use.
  • Assist in training and development of peers.
Position Requirements
  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of retail experience.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including related software.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records.
  • Take initiative, assume responsibility, and execute thoroughly.
  • Interacts with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Possesses a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs or more.
