Overview
The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in promoting a customer- and product-focused sales culture. Responsibilities include managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources to ensure a great customer experience and maximum profitability. The role supports growth and development within the brand-friendly environment.
Responsibilities- Analyzes sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs; partners with the Store Manager to execute in-store business and sales strategies.
- Establishes and communicates clear expectations, holding the store team and themselves accountable for brand, performance, and behavior standards.
- Controls payroll and supply budget.
- Performs and oversees scheduling, shrink audits, physical inventory, opening/closing duties, timesheet review, payroll accuracy, and merchandise flow processes.
- Performs financial activities in accordance with policy, including cash handling, price changes, and merchandise handling; ensures register transactions are accurate and policy-compliant.
- Ensures compliance with applicable laws and loss prevention policies; conducts associate training to reinforce controls.
- Administers operational processes including inventory receipt/dispatch, daily replenishment of floor merchandise, and physical inventories.
- Ensures visual presentation, organization, and facility maintenance align with Brand standards.
- Develops a high-performance culture, motivating the sales team to meet sales and productivity goals.
- Trains and coaches the selling team on product knowledge both on-line and in-store.
- Trains, coaches, and assists with locate fulfillment and selling.
- Motivates and inspires the store team, develops a shared vision, and models core values.
- Promotes an inclusive, collaborative approach to problem solving and communicates effectively with store teams and the Store Manager to lead positive change.
- Seeks personal development opportunities and solicits feedback to build leadership skills.
- Models, teaches, and promotes MAPS (Most Amazing Personal Service) standards and offers a cohesive omnichannel experience.
- Utilizes product knowledge to recommend merchandise, locate items, and meet customer needs; ensures prompt resolution of customer concerns.
- Maintains a fast and efficient register experience and stays current on policies for payments, coupons, returns, exchanges, and security practices.
- Maintains client communication through customer books, rewards programs, and customer sign-up processes.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, and developing a high-performing team; supports and follows up on training programs; assesses and coaches performance.
- Collaborates with the Store Manager to resolve human resources issues and drives associate engagement by recognizing outstanding performance.
Other duties as assigned. This position may be found in multiple brands; some duties may vary by brand.
Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of retail management experience preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Excellent communication, verbal, and written skills
- Able to learn or adapt to technology provided by the company
- Proven excellent customer service skills with a track record in sales and leadership
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership, training, and team-building skills
- Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations
- Able to communicate with customers and staff
- Regular attendance is essential; ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Constant walking/standing for 67-100% of an 8-hour shift
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (1-33% of an 8-hour shift)
- Frequent climbing (34-66% of an 8-hour shift)
