Summary
The Rental Account Manager exists as the primary Rental Sales/Marketing function at the BU level. This position mainly supports the commercial rental and trailer services product lines. It will increase Ryder’s rental sales presence in the BU, ensuring the generation of profitable new accounts while retaining existing accounts. The end result should be pure rental revenue growth, improved profitability and improved Return on Assets.
In addition, given lease conversion quotas, the position should provide additional lease sales filters for the organization, improving the lease sales productivity and performance for the Lease Sales organization.
Works in St. Louis, MO (surrounding areas; mileage reimbursed).
CompensationBase Salary: $45,000 + performance‑based uncapped commission. Anticipated total compensation: $70,000. Market potential for a sales‑focused individual: $90,000 – $100,000 per year.
Essential Functions- SALES:
Develop leads through cold calls, telephone solicitation and customer visits. Use product knowledge to assess customer needs, develop a proposal, and work with rental operations to ensure equipment availability. Responsible for marketing at the branch level and ensuring rental sales representatives are skilled in telemarketing to prospective and current customers. SCOPE OF DECISION MAKING:
Contact decision makers, develop competitive proposals, and train RSR in proper phone skills and marketing techniques. - CUSTOMER RETENTION:
Maintain contact with customers through multiple visits and phone calls. Ensure quality service by effectively handling complaints and staying abreast of customer needs and long‑term rentals. SCOPE OF DECISION MAKING:
Retain customers in a price‑competitive market and schedule retention visits to long‑term rental customers. - TIME ADMINISTRATION:
Develop proposals and contracts; maintain customer files and prepare follow‑up correspondence. Coordinate with other BU departments, maintain FIS integrity in the DPS system, administer credit approval and collections, manage maintenance status, and update scheduling. - SCOPE OF DECISION MAKING:
Follow up within a specific timeframe, comply with company procedures, and diplomatically collect past‑due receivables.

- Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing or 5 years equivalent job‑related experience.
- One (1) year or more sales experience or equivalent sales training required.
- Three (3) years or more sales experience preferred.
- One (1) year or more industry experience preferred.
