Job Description

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Field Sales Intern will work directly with a Strategic Account Manager and Senior Client Representative to support the growth and development of strategic and developmental accounts across a large, multi-state territory in the Central Region. The successful candidate will play a key role in account mapping, customer identification, CRM enrichment, and market development activities with a focus on academic, clinical, and biotech/pharma accounts.

This position provides hands-on experience in life science sales, account management, and strategic business development within a diverse research territory.

Core Duties
  • Account Mapping & CRM Enrichment
    • Analyze daily sales reports to identify distributor sales from academic and clinical accounts; cross-reference contact names against CRM and Linked In to determine whether contact has been made or represents a new business opportunity.
    • Track customer interactions through timeline and email tracking tools to assess the status of existing relationships and flag high-priority outreach targets.
    • Manage CRM contacts with relevant keywords and notes to support targeted marketing campaigns and outreach efforts.
    • Assist with mapping of developmental accounts to support lead capture and relationship development at priority accounts, including Washington University in St. Louis, Colorado State University, University of Missouri, Saint Louis University, Texas A&M (College Station), and Louisiana institutions.
  • Market Development & Outreach Support
    • Support the identification and mapping of priority and developing accounts such as Colorado State University, University of Missouri, Washington University in St. Louis, Texas A&M, and Louisiana institutions.
    • Utilize federal and private funding dashboards, including NIH, NSF, HHMI, and other relevant funding bodies, to identify grant-funded Principal Investigators at target accounts.
    • Organize Lunch & Learn and table events at priority and developmental accounts.
    • Identify, assist, or conduct outreach to customers who may benefit from Promega programs and promotions, including AAP and NLSU, TSP to increase program enrollment, customer engagement, and build customer relationships.
    • Organize meetings, connect with contacts, and have opportunities to speak with procurement.

    • Understand and comply with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.
  • Key Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or recent graduate majoring in life sciences and/or business.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment across multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a laboratory, research, or life science environment, with familiarity with common research techniques and reagent-based workflows.
  • Experience with CRM platforms, data management tools, or sales support systems; ability to learn and navigate proprietary databases and dashboards (e.g., PowerBI, NIH RePORTER, Linked In).
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, communicate professionally with scientists and procurement contacts, and work independently in a remote or field-based setting.
  • Interest in life science sales, business development, or account management as a career path.
  • Physical Demands
  • Ability to transport items between buildings, up to 50 pounds, including product samples, promotional materials, event supplies, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to travel within the territory on occasion to support customer visits and account meetings.
