The Account Manager is responsible for driving new patient referrals and revenue growth through the promotion of specialty pharmacy services to healthcare providers, physician practices, hospitals, and other referral sources throughout the assigned territory.
This individual will serve as a key liaison between healthcare providers and internal clinical teams to facilitate patient access to specialty therapies and ensure an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and grow relationships with physicians, clinics, hospitals, case managers, discharge planners, and other healthcare professionals.
- Promote specialty pharmacy and infusion-related service offerings to referral sources.
- Generate new patient referrals and drive territory revenue growth.
- Conduct in-person sales presentations, educational meetings, and provider consultations.
- Develop and execute territory business plans in partnership with sales leadership.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities while maintaining existing referral relationships.
- Act as a resource for providers by helping navigate referral and reimbursement processes.
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events as assigned.
- Monitor market trends and provide competitive and industry intelligence to leadership.
- Maintain accurate territory records, sales activities, and communications.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure high-quality service delivery and patient satisfaction.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of healthcare industry experience in sales, account management, clinical services, customer service, or related healthcare environments.
- Experience working with specialty pharmacy, infusion services, biologics, immunology, rare disease therapies, or other chronic disease states is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success building provider relationships and generating referrals.
- Strong understanding of specialty therapies and chronic disease management.
- Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and healthcare administrators.
- Excellent presentation, relationship-building, and consultative selling skills.
- Strong organizational and territory management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Up to 50% travel throughout the assigned territory.
- Primarily field-based role with regular visits to physician offices, healthcare facilities, and referral sources.
- Frequent computer usage and administrative reporting responsibilities.
- Ability to travel and transport materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
