Botany/Ecology Lab Coordinator
As the Botany/Ecology Lab Coordinator within the Science Labs, individuals in this role will support the preparation and organization of the botany and ecology labs. This position involves preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols within all lab spaces, providing support for occurring labs and instructors, completing general lab upkeep and maintenance tasks as well as the organization of packages and inventory.
Regular communication and ongoing training with student managers and supervisors are required. This position requires being organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with strong time management skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain meticulous records, have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and part of a team. Students will gain valuable experience in the science field/laboratory and learn workplace skills while contributing to the overall functionality of the natural sciences division lab spaces.
- Prepare lab set up and materials in advance of botany and ecology labs.
- Check in with professors for any additional needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety protocols within all the lab space.
- Support occurring labs for any additional needs while on clock.
- Complete general lab upkeep and maintenance tasks.
- Receive packages and inventory materials per the online inventory protocol.
- Complete any additional lab prep assignments with other Lab Coordinators.
- Regularly check in with supervisors for additional tasks.

- Must be a current full-time undergraduate student, majoring in a science field at Maryville University.
- Must be Federal Work-Study eligible (a US citizen that has filled out the FAFSA) and available to work during the academic year.
- Must commit to at least 10 hours per week.
- A science faculty recommendation for lab work is preferred unless applying as a freshman. If applicable, please submit a recommendation letter with your application.
- Ability to stand and move throughout the lab for extended periods.
- Use of hands for handling equipment and preparing materials.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20–30 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
- Visual attention to detail for measurements and labels.
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment with standard chemical exposure.
- Responsiveness to active lab needs during sessions.
- Strong time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and part of a team.
Position Pay: $15/hr
Hours per week: 10 hrs
