Job Summary
The Security Specialist II (SSII) is a journeyman level position comprising several components:
Workforce Support Center, Visitor Control, Conference Center, Escort, Registry, SCIF Service, and Database Maintenance. Responsibilities include controlling site access, issuing badges and , parking passes, and ensuring all personnel follow site security, safety protocols and procedures.
- Workforce Support Center:
Accurately create, issue, and collect Intelligence Badges, Common Access Cards, Keys, Hangtags, Visits, Mobility Scooters and Passport Photos using systems such as Security Management System Software, Access Database, People Soft, RAPIDS/DEERS and others. Assist customers with a wide range of topics and respond to all queries.
Process clearances for departing and arriving personnel. - Visitor Control:
Verify clearances and authorize personnel via the C-CURE/SMS system or contact with the badging office. Issue temporary badges and assist with expediting personnel entering and exiting the facility via access control points. - Conference Center:
Provide access control to ensure only properly credentialed personnel enter the facility. Generate furniture set‑up work requests (WRs), monitor facility cleanliness, and initiate WRs for non‑functioning items. - Registry:
Receive, wrap, and ship classified (Secret and Top Secret) material using appropriate FEDEX, UPS, Postal Service, and Defense Courier Services. Populate and maintain the related database. Create Courier Cards and manage classified information within the active region. - SCIF:
Provide access control service, comply with NGA/DOD/Intelligence Community Directives and Regulations, and interface with NGA Police and Government Site Security. Provide various security reports as needed. - Escort:
Monitor uncleared personnel assigned to the Supervised area. Ensure they have no exposure to classified data, are briefed on prohibited items, and comply with security regulations. Verify security badges to confirm clearances. May serve as an attendant at an access entry point to ensure only properly cleared personnel enter and exit the assigned area.

Additional Responsibilities- May be assigned to work at either the St. Louis or Arnold campus. Must be able to operate the Security Management System (SMS/C/Cure) and sensitive but unclassified and classified computer systems.
- Escort duties may require evening and weekend hours.
- Adhere to contract‑mandated dress code. Uniform is required for Conference Center and Visitor Control in St. Louis.
- Perform pre‑access brief to preclude prohibited items from entering a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as time sheets, leave requests, etc.
- Annually complete the certification process on RAPIDS/DEERS to become a Verifying Official.
- Support the quality control program to ensure organization compliance with the contract Performance Work Statement.
- Annually pass the Visitor Control Certification Examination.
- Provide excellent customer service and answer routine questions.
- Gather and file various forms and reports at multiple locations each month.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
- High school diploma or state‑certified equivalent required.
- 2 years of security or related experience required.
- Valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI government security clearance with polygraph required.
- Must be able to work with people internally and externally at all levels of an organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to become familiar with corporate‑specific programs and software.
- Be punctual—on time, ready to work scheduled hours.
- Excellent oral/verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented and able to carry out work with the highest levels of accuracy.
