Serves as an unarmed, back-up/assistant to Response Officer II or Lead Officer when responding to life safety and protection of property, and emergency and non-emergency incidents on campus. Includes rendering emergency medical assistance or general first aid. Enforces University policy/procedures and criminal law. May be assigned to vehicle or foot patrol, as part of a unified team. Must be prepared to handle a variety of complex, ever-changing situations.
Needs to be able to utilize a variety of tools and techniques to resolve situations and accurately and thoroughly record information for the official University record.
Job Description
Primary
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responds or reacts as a team member to emergency and non-emergency incidents (medical, law enforcement, injury/accident, et al) on campus. Takes action, or makes notes for follow-up, of any safety and security issues. Provides Emergency Management support during larger-scale incidents. When not on assignment, patrols the University properties.
- Receives/compiles information for incident reports and conducts initial and follow-up investigations, as assigned, under the direction of an RO II or Lead Officer.
- Conducts building checks which include checking access control devices, door locks and proactively looking for any possible safety or security hazard. Uses problem-solving skills to resolve issues found during building checks.
- Provides necessary follow-up (transports to the medical facility, notifies proper authorities, and undertakes any other necessary coordination) for faculty, staff, students, and visitors after immediate resolution of an incident.
- Assists Medical Center personnel and visitors with directions and provides escorts when requested. Partners with customers in assigned geographical areas and assists them in resolving multi-department issues.
- May serve as an instructor for skills training and certifications.
- Takes possession of found property, attempting to locate the owner, and securing property according to established procedure.
- Enforces parking regulations and provides support to the Transportation Office as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Professional Licenses:
