Security Officer

Job Summary

Provides a reasonably safe and secure environment by providing security services for staff, patients, visitors, and premises. Acts as a first responder to urgent facility matters.

• Conduct interior and exterior rounds, observe for safety and security issues, theft, and monitor parking lots.
• Promote visitor and employee safety by door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming proper operation of elevators, assisting with disruptive individuals, patient restraints, and providing escorts.
• Respond to overdue pages or assistance requests, including escorting emergency personnel through the building and providing post‑mortem services.
• Provide professional customer service in complex and dynamic situations, utilizing a proactive approach to identifying safety hazards and communicating with clinical staff.
• Observe and report security concerns, complete incident reports and shift logs, and forward them to appropriate individuals.
• Assist with maintenance through property conservation and campus safety approaches: alarm testing, checking life‑safety equipment, AEDs, oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, access control, badging, door integrity checks, etc.
• Enforce organization policies and procedures.
• Monitor, review, and investigate incidents using the video management system.
• Operate motor vehicle to patrol.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and safe manner; perform other duties as assigned.

High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.

• Constant use of hearing and vision for alarms, machinery, distances, colors, etc.
• Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of 0‑25 lbs and 25‑50 lbs; occasional lifting of >50 lbs.
• Frequent standing, twisting, walking, and use of vision for spatial judgment.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, squatting, reaching, gripping, and repetitive movements.
• Occasional keyboard use/data entry, use of smell to detect odors, and occasional driving or patient movement.

• Valid Missouri driver’s license and motor vehicle record check.
• Security Officer License – St. Charles County or St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
• Psychological assessment to confirm suitability for security duties.
