Position Title
Security Officer – Night Shift (Full time, 40 hours a week) at Saint Louis University Hospital, SSM Health.
Job SummaryProvides a reasonably safe and secure environment by delivering security services for staff, patients, visitors and premises. Acts as a first responder to emergencies and urgent facility matters.
Responsibilities and Requirements- Protect property and staff by conducting interior and exterior rounds, monitoring parking lots, and observing safety and security issues.
- Ensure visitor and employee safety by performing door checks, inspecting lighting, checking elevator operation, and handling disruptive individuals.
- Assist with patient restraints and provide escorts to staff and clients as requested.
- Respond to overhead pages or assistance requests, escort emergency personnel, and provide post‑mortem services.
- Provide professional customer service and identify safety hazards through communication with clinical staff.
- Observe and report security concerns and complete incident reports and shift logs.
- Maintain property conservation by testing alarms, checking fire extinguishers, AEDs, oxygen tanks, access controls, badging, and door integrity.
- Enforce organization policies and procedures.
- Monitor, review and investigate incidents using the video management system.
- Patrol with motor vehicle as needed.
- Remain alert and safe at all times and perform other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED, or equivalent 10 years of relevant work experience.
Following a conditional offer, a successful psychological assessment is required to confirm suitability for security duties.
Physical Requirements- Constant use of hearing and vision for alarms and emergency communication.
- Lifting/carrying objects 0–25lbs frequently; 25–50lbs often; over 50lbs occasionally.
- Frequent standing, twisting, walking, and repetitive movements.
- Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, squatting, and driving.
- Valid Missouri driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Security Officer License for St.Charles County or St.Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
