The typical starting salary range is between $26.70 - $32.04 hourly depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations. Examples of Duties
Supervise construction crew and projects by communicating and assigning daily task to crew members, providing instruction, reviewing crew performance for quality and techniques, following local building codes, and effectively interpreting blueprints and drawings. Coordinate project resource allocations and scheduling by estimating materials, equipment, and labor requirements to meet project needs and time allotment.
Supervise and participate in carpentry projects such as roof and wall framing, concrete forming, structural steel erection, decks, ramps, steps, railings, and other related work to ensure proper adherence to local building codes, acceptable construction standards, quality, and accuracy.
Supervise and participate in concrete and masonry projects such as flatwork, walls, foundations, stairs, masonry blocks, stone, pavers, and other related work to ensure proper adherence to local building codes, acceptable construction, standards, quality, and accuracy.
Supervise and participate in roofing projects to properly install a wide variety of roofing systems, substrates, guttering, flashing, and other related work according to manufacturer's specifications and industry standards.
Provide supervisory and technical resources on a journeyman level for varying types of Department needs and projects to ensure viability of proposed projects and needs.
Ensure job site safety by practicing proper techniques and methods according to accepted industry standards.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of trades schooling or an apprenticeship and five years of experience in structural maintenance or rough carpentry, including one year in a lead capacity; or any equivalent combination.
Possession of a valid Drivers License.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.
The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.
Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.
The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
