This position works directly with the electrical + maintenance trades and building services staff to perform carpentry and painting tasks to maintain the operating standards of the building complex. In addition, this position will interface with contractors, decorators and building staff in regard to painting and construction projects within the facility. This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by the Carpenters District Council.
Duties- Construct, paint, patch, erect and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard, conforming to local building codes.
- Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain enamel or lacquer to decorate and protect interior / exterior surfaces, trimmings and building fixtures / structures.
- Perform construction, modification, paint and repair of the building's floors, walls, partitions, doors, windows, cabinets, woodwork, tables, chairs, stages, platforms, ceilings, dance floor, tile, etc.
- Perform lay‑out work and bench work as required for new construction, including customer requests and custom cabinet making.
- Construct and install temporary signage, including the use of stencils, to meet client needs.
- Complete cutting, burning and arc‑welding tasks.
- Order necessary work materials and estimate repair costs on building damage.
- Install door hardware, locks, etc. for new construction and new bathroom fixtures.
- Retract, remove and reinstall fixed and portable bleachers.
- Occasionally perform Field Crew tasks as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding.
- Work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and motorized aerial work platforms.
- Operate mechanized equipment when required to perform tasks listed above.
- Report all matters that affect work projects to the Lead Painter/Carpenter.
- Participate in safety training and serves on the building Safety Committee as assigned.
- Perform special projects as assigned by management.
- Work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.
Our ideal candidate will be experienced in painting, carpentry, construction and repair projects. High School diploma/GED and one‑year certificate from trade/technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Flexibility to work all shifts including days/nights, weekends and holidays is necessary, along with the ability to pass a drug screen and background check. Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment is essential.
