As a trailer technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate maintenance, service, and repair on J.B. Hunt trailers and other equipment. You will troubleshoot issues and complete all fleet maintenance under routine supervision to ensure equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems, and FHWA inspections.
- Diagnose trailer issues and accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications; complete work orders and adhere to company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.
- Assist with onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician trainees.
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training for OE repairs.
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
- Follow all shop safety procedures.
- Work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends as needed.
Shifts may vary depending on location and business needs.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- 18 years of age with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
- A/C certified.
- DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes.
- Ability to supply own basic tools or purchase through J.B. Hunt’s toolbox purchase program.
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
- Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Wear appropriate work attire and PPE.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate communication and accurate interpretation of ideas through various mediums.
- High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of semi-trailer maintenance and repair experience.
- Basic welding skills (MIG and stick).
- Proficient computer skills and comfort working with a computer.
- Ability to use time and resources efficiently.
- Eager to learn new skills and advance through J.B. Hunt’s Technician Career Advancement (TCA) program.
The expected starting pay range for this position is competitive and may vary based on skills, education, experience and geography.
Potential eligibility for annual bonuses and incentives based on company profitability or volume, in accordance with current bonus and incentive plans.
