Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist – St. Louis, MO

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, you'll provide hands-on support, training, and coordination to individuals working in direct labor roles, ensuring their vocational and personal needs are met while maintaining compliance with key programs like Ability One and CARF.

Looking for:
Ideal candidates have experience working with individuals with disabilities, strong communication and documentation skills, and a passion for empowering others. Requirements:
Local travel, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required.

Primary Duties
  • Ensure that the vocational and non-vocational needs of assigned individuals are being met.
  • Complete required Ability One documentation, such as Disability Qualification Determination and Participating Employee Information forms, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain familiarity with Ability One, CARF, Medicaid, HCBS, and other entities to ensure compliance with such bodies. This includes maintaining case records in accordance with CARF standards, Medicaid regulation, Ability One regulation, and other funding source regulation, and internal policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide training to and coordinate with operational personnel to ensure the proper implementation of vocational supports.
  • Coordinate services with local case management agencies to facilitate total program services.
  • Maintain familiarity with behavior management techniques.
  • Perform quality assurance of data and attendance records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations, other funding regulations and internal policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date participant information, as required for case files and funding sources.
  • Coordinate assessments of assigned individuals and new referrals as needed.
Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
  • One year of experience working with individuals with disabilities required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, training, and writing skills required.
  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations, at times with little notice required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, when needed, including weekends and evenings required.
  • Ability to access a secure government building and obtain necessary clearances.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office software.
