Location: St. Louis

The School Social Worker serves as the primary liaison between the school, families, and community organizations, coordinating partnerships that provide mental health services, mentoring, healthcare, housing assistance, food security, workforce development, and other supports that remove barriers to student success.

Essential Responsibilities Student Support
  • Provide individual and small group counseling for students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or family challenges.
  • Conduct student needs assessments and develop intervention plans.
  • Participate in MTSS, IEP, 504, attendance, and student support team meetings.
  • Conduct risk assessments and respond to student crises, including suicide risk, abuse, neglect, and other emergencies.
  • Connect students and families to appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Maintain confidential case notes and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Support students in navigating school and community resources.
  • Assist students experiencing crises such as homelessness, food insecurity, transportation challenges, or domestic violence.
  • Facilitate family workshops and resource events.
Community Partnerships & Wraparound Services
  • Lead BELIEVE Academy's network of community partners that provide wraparound services.
  • Coordinate on-campus services, including counseling, mentoring, health screenings, food distributions, clothing drives, and family resource events.
  • Develop systems to ensure students are connected to appropriate services based on identified needs.
  • Track referrals, service utilization, outcomes, and partner effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partner organizations.
  • Identify gaps in available services and recruit new partners to address unmet student needs.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to align community partnerships with school priorities.
School Culture & Collaboration
  • Provide professional development related to trauma‑informed practices, mental health, and community resources.
  • Participate in school events, family engagement activities, and student celebrations.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and restorative school culture.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions, referrals, and case management.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, mandatory reporting laws, and professional ethical standards.
  • Prepare reports on student support services and community partnership outcomes.
  • Assist with grant reporting and documentation related to wraparound services when needed.
