Digital Data Platform Java Developer
Hybrid role: onsite 2 days a week in St. Louis, MO.
Team:
Agile API team. Java is the product and development side of the team. The new hires will work on Java Spring Boot APIs to implement changes for various use cases in flight. The day‑to‑day work involves collaborating with scrum team members on user stories, troubleshooting tickets with other developers and testers, and practicing Agile methodologies.
Digital Data Platform (DDP) is an event‑streaming pipeline that unlocks business data held in legacy systems of record (SOR). It standardizes and enables real‑time access to high‑quality customer information across core Ameren systems, increasing performance, scalability, reliability, and agility while reducing technical debt.
Key Responsibilities– Design, develop, and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.
– Implement real‑time stream processing with Kafka Streams and Confluent Kafka infrastructure.
– Create, test, and deploy APIs using CI/CD pipelines and Dev Sec Ops practices.
– Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and domain stakeholders to translate requirements into API‑led solutions.
– Mentor developers, contribute to process improvement, and support complex integration solutions.
Required Skills and Experience- Java – 7+ years, expert-level Java, OOP, design patterns, multi‑threading, JUnit testing.
- Spring Boot – 7+ years, microservices, REST APIs, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, Graph
QL. - Confluent Kafka – 5+ years, brokers, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, security & performance tuning.
- Kafka Streams – real‑time stream processing, stateful operations, event‑driven pipelines.
- Node.js – scalable backend APIs, Express/NestJS, async programming.
- JavaScript – async/await, Promises; familiarity with front‑end frameworks (React, Angular) a plus.
- Mongo
DB – schema design, aggregation pipelines, indexing, Atlas, Change Streams. - Redis – caching strategies, data structures, Pub/Sub, high‑availability clusters.
- AWS Cloud‑Native – ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, SQS/SNS, IAM, Cloud Watch, API Gateway.
- SQL/RDBMS – application‑level querying, ORM frameworks, query optimization.
- Terraform – IaC, AWS provisioning, state management, Git Ops.
- Python – scripting, automation, data pipelines.
- Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, Dev Sec Ops practices.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and mentoring abilities.
- Aligns technical decisions with business and platform goals.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business.
