Senior Software Engineer

The work location is fully onsite at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) in St.Louis, Missouri.

• Design and implement new capabilities and custom software solutions to solve unique government customer problems
• Follow best practices to write well‑tested, high‑performing code
• Identify and resolve issues found in existing code
• Integrate capabilities with external services and tools
• Participate in code reviews and mentor team members
• Communicate status and technical details with customers

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a relevant STEM field
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance (required)
• 12+ years of experience writing, maintaining, debugging, and testing code
• Experience with RESTful web services
• Experience with one or more of the following programming languages:
  Golang, C++, C#, Java, or Java Script
• Experience with version control software (e.g., Git)
• Experience with bug/issue tracking software such as JIRA

• Ability to communicate technical details of work
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and take ownership of project segments
• Strong oral, written, and organizational communication skills
• Open, team‑oriented, and eager to learn

• Containerized deployment such as Docker
• Document‑store databases such as Elasticsearch, Open Search, and MongoDB
• Kubernetes and Helm orchestration
• CI/CD pipelines using Git Lab Pipelines, Argo CD, and/or Jenkins
• 5+ years working with military & intelligence systems (e.g., Maritime, Safety of Navigation, Precise Navigation & Timing, Geodetic, Geophysical, and photogrammetric sciences)
• Experience building and deploying software in the Intelligence Community
• Supporting intelligence community or DoD missions, especially within GEOINT environments
• Knowledge of geospatial technologies and data visualization techniques
• At least 5 years in geospatial data management, data governance, or data stewardship roles in a complex organization
