Job SummaryBishop DuBourg High School seeks a committed, energetic, and motivational Boys Basketball Coach to lead its student‑athletes in a program rooted in teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal integrity. The ideal candidate will mentor players both on and off the court, promote skill development, and foster a competitive yet character‑driven athletic environment that reflects the mission and values of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the boys basketball program, including practices, games, conditioning, and player development.
- Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, strategies, and techniques appropriate for high school athletes.
- Build a positive team culture grounded in respect, discipline, accountability, and Christian values.
- Model and promote sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and academic responsibility.
- Develop season practice plans, game strategies, and player evaluations.
- Supervise student‑athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
- Maintain clear communication with players, families, athletic department staff, and school leadership.
- Ensure compliance with MSHSAA regulations, school policies, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, equipment needs, budgets, and program logistics.
- Support student‑athletes’ holistic development through mentoring, encouragement, and academic awareness.
- Promote the program through outreach, community engagement, and encouragement of participation.
- Oversee assistant coaches and support staff to ensure alignment with program goals.
Qualifications
- Prior basketball coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
- Ability to model positive leadership, strong character, and professionalism.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education; willingness to support and uphold the school’s faith‑based environment.
- Completion of required background checks, certifications, and MSHSAA training.
