Provide a welcoming environment and offering a safe recreational and educational experience on the Zooline Railroad and employee shuttles. Duties include light maintenance, cleaning and driving the train and shuttles, serving as conductor and platform assistant, and selling train tickets. This position starts at $15.50 per hour, but may increase based on certain factors including experience, and availability.
Responsibilities- Assist guests boarding and disembarking trains
- Drive or serve as conductor on trains
- Inspect trains and shuttles for safety
- Pull and park trains and shuttles for storage
- Clean trains to maintain a first‑class appearance
- Sell tickets and handle cash
- Perform other duties as assigned within Visitor Services department
- High School Diploma
- Strong communication skills
- Valid Class E driver’s license
- Pass a yearly physical
- Available most weekends and holidays
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Withstand physical stress of climbing on and off trains frequently
- Able to maneuver guests using wheelchairs on and off trains and stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to drive shuttles in city traffic and handle guest issues within Zoo policies
All successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal background check and a drug test. As this is a safety‑sensitive role, a negative drug test result is mandatory. The drug test screens for five substances, including marijuana.
