Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and smooth accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, skilled in general ledger accounting, and ready to contribute to month-end close processes and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries, taking full ownership of this critical accounting function.

- Execute month-end close activities, adhering to established schedules and deadlines.

- Perform thorough balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.

- Monitor bank activity, create supporting schedules, and ensure accurate month-end reporting.

- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and cash applications.

- Review bank deposits, apply cash receipts, and assist with collections and invoicing workflows.

- Collaborate with the accounting team to streamline processes and maintain robust internal controls.

- Contribute to special accounting projects and tasks as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.

Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of experience in Staff Accounting, with a focus on month-end close processes.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and managing general ledger accounting.

- Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in moderate-volume environments.

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

- Ability to take initiative, own key responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines.

- Experience with accounting software such as Financial Edge or Blackbaud is preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle complex accounting tasks.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
