Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join a team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone who is detail oriented and has a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices. The role involves managing financial operations and ensuring accurate reporting to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and record journal entries to maintain the accuracy of financial records.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure proper documentation and compliance.

- Assist in month-end close procedures, including analysis and reporting.

- Handle corporate tax filings and sales tax processes in adherence to regulations.

- Review and prepare corporate tax returns with precision and attention to detail.

- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure seamless operations and address gaps in workflow.

- Utilize People Soft software to manage accounting processes efficiently.

- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions.

- Support audits by gathering and organizing necessary documentation.

- Maintain the integrity of financial records and improve operational efficiency.

Requirements - Proven experience in corporate tax and sales tax procedures.

- Proficiency in preparing corporate tax returns and journal entries.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting.

- Familiarity with accounting software, particularly People Soft.

- Ability to manage month-end close activities effectively.

- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
