This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

The position provides accounting consultation, direction and review of all County and Municipal accounting groups to ensure that maintenance and construction expenditures and reporting is in accordance with State and Federal laws, State Aid rules and regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position provides education and support before committees, and local agencies.

  • The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
Minimum Qualifications

Three years of professional accounting or finance experience that demonstrates:

  • Knowledge and experience interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting, cost allocations, and project funding requirements.
  • Experience analyzing financial documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience providing training and guidance to internal and external partners.

A bachelor s or master s degree in accounting, business, or finance may substitute for one year of professional accounting or finance experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Oracle Peoplesoft, Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) or other governmental financial, procurement, and reporting systems.
  • Experience reviewing project cost eligibility for state or federal transportation funding programs.
  • Experience with special funds management, such as maintenance accounts, bond payments, or account-to-account transfers.
