Job OverviewThe Accountant serves as the primary financial steward for Rondo Community Land Trust and its related entities, including the Golden Thyme restaurant. This role is responsible for managing a wide scope of the organization's accounting functions, working closely with the organization’s accounting firm — including nonprofit fund accounting, grant and donor fund management, payroll processing, and restaurant operations accounting. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in nonprofit accounting alongside experience managing complex, multi-entity financial environments.
They are detail-oriented, self-directed, and capable of maintaining financial integrity across a mission-driven organization with diverse revenue streams.
- Maintain charts of accounts to facilitate accurate and timely financials.
- Process and review accounts payable, ensuring accurate vendor setup and fraud prevention.
- Conduct thorough monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
- Support the preparation of the organization’s annual Form 990 and any related tax filings.
- Reconcile daily sales, cash, credit card transactions, and POS data for restaurant operations.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial controls, systems, and processes.
- Process invoices, manage payment schedules, and resolve discrepancies across all entities.
- Maintain vendor relationships and ensure timely payments.
- Manage accounts receivable functions including invoicing, collections follow-up, and reconciliation.
- Maintain payroll records and coordinate with HR on employee changes, benefits deductions, and labor reporting.
- Monitor labor cost reporting and ensure compliance with applicable wage and tip regulations.
- Maintain fund accounting for restricted and unrestricted grants, donations, and program funds in compliance with funder requirements.
- Track grant expenditures against budgets and prepare financial reports for funders and government agencies.
- Coordinate with program staff to ensure accurate expense allocation and timely reporting.
- Monitor compliance with grant terms and flag any variances or risks to leadership.
- Assist with financial components of grant applications and renewal reports as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA candidacy a plus.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with nonprofit fund accounting strongly preferred.
- Experience managing grants, restricted funds, and funder reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage payroll independently, including tax filings and compliance.
- Familiarity with restaurant or multi-entity accounting environments a plus.
- Proficiency with accounting software and POS systems (Quick Books, Toast, and Gusto preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Minnesota and federal payroll, labor, and nonprofit reporting regulations strongly preferred.
