Senior Staff Accountant

Location:

St. Paul, MN – Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Salary Range: $70,000 – $110,000 annually

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts while ensuring accounting entries are accurate and properly supported
• Lead and support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, depreciation, and amortization
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for leadership and internal stakeholders
• Assist with management reporting and financial analysis to support business decision‑making
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements, including government contracting standards where applicable
• Process and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reports, and customer/vendor balances
• Monitor aging reports and assist with collections and outstanding account follow‑up as needed
• Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions while researching and resolving discrepancies
• Support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules, documentation, and requested analyses
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
• Analyze financial trends and provide insights related to operational performance and cost management opportunities
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and stronger internal controls
• Support implementation of accounting process enhancements and automation initiatives
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with project and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information
• Mentor or provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
• Participate in special projects and additional accounting initiatives as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong exposure to general ledger accounting and month‑end close processes
• Solid understanding of GAAP and experience working within a regulated or compliance‑driven environment
• Familiarity with CAS, DCAA, and FAR regulations strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Strong experience with reconciliations, accruals, complex journal entries, depreciation, and amortization accounting
• Experience supporting internal and external audits and preparing supporting documentation
• Ability to perform variance analysis and provide meaningful financial insights to leadership
• Experience assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Strong understanding of internal controls and continuous process improvement initiatives
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial data analysis
• Experience working within ERP or accounting systems
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities with strong attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion with confidential information
